Cascade of chocolate roses

I created this cake with its cascade of white and milk chocolate roses for Emma Hancock's wedding in May. The modelling, I must confess, was not done by me!Labels: Contemporary designs, Flowers, Wedding Cakes

St John Vianney

I made this cake for Gwen’s sixtieth birthday party. She is a great Francophile, and the Curé d'Ars is one of her favourite saints, so he makes his appearance on this cake. The words read "S. Jean-Marie Vianney, priez pour nous". Many happy returns of the day!Labels: Birthday Cakes, Novelty models

St Mark and the Lion

For Mark Lewin’s reception into the Church I made this cake with his patron saint on it: St Mark the Evangelist accompanied by the Winged Lion of St Mark. The books round the base are the ones Mark read on his “book journey” to the faith. The words round the figures read: “Eratis sicut oves errantes sed conversi estis nunc ad Pastorem”, a quotation from the Epistle of the day of his reception which translates as: “You were as sheep going astray but now you are converted to the Shepherd” (2 Peter 21-25) Co-incidentally it was also Mark’s birthday on the day of his baptism, so there is a Many Happy Returns of the Day message in Latin on the cake board. Congratulations, Mark!Labels: Celebration Cakes, Christening Cakes, Novelty models
